I lost my 10 year old English Bull Terrier on 4/8/2013. We took her to the vet because of a cough that happened at night . Her blood work showed Kidney Disease. It was at its End Stage and it was far too advanced for any treatment. We had to euthanize Neva that very day :(
I assume we all go through these moment of doubt and how we could have changed things — when mourning a beloved animal.. English Bull Terriers have a special place in my heart, I cannot wait for the day that i can adopt/rescue another.
We adopted Neva two years ago.. She was my first bullie ..
some visible factors to kidney disease ——
1. increased water consumption —neva gulped alot water
2. increased urination — she would focus and drink till i snapped her out of it, go to the door so she can pee, want to drink more, then leak on the floor, leak on the couch, just a few drops…..
3. smelly breath — we were told she needed to have dental work and that was all — WRONG. her breath had a funk, and there was more going on
4. bruises vs spots — make sure those spots on bull terriers bellys are actual spots and not new bruises — which can identify platelet abnormalities
